Sofia Margarita Vergara
Sofia Margarita Vergara (Spanish:, born July 10, 1972) is a Colombian American actress, television producer, presenter, and model. Vergara was America's highest paid actress from 2013 until 2020. Vergara gained prominence hosting two Spanish-language television programs for Univision in the late 1990s. Her first significant acting gig in English was in the movie Chasing Papi (2003). After that, she was in Four Brothers (2005), Tyler Perry's comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009, which received an ALMA Award nomination). In 2009, she began as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the ABC comedy series Modern Family for which she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and eleven Screen Actors Guild Awards.Vergara has also had roles in the movies The Smurfs (2011), New Year's Eve (2011), The Three Stooges (2012), Machete Kills (2013), Fading Gigolo (2013) Chef (2014), and Hot Pursuit (2015). Vergara has also voiced roles in animated films Happy Feet Two (2011). Escape from Planet Earth (2013). and The Emoji Movie (2018). Vergara was also the highest-paid Hollywood actress in the year 2020 [citation needed]. Vergara has been America's Got Talent judge since 2020. Vergara was born to a Roman Catholic family in Barranquilla. Vergara's mom Margarita Vergara De Vergara worked as a housewife, while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as a cattle rancher within the meat industry. The nickname she received was "Toti" by her siblings and many cousins. Vergara was originally a student at National University of Colombia in dentistry. She then left after two years to pursue opportunities in modeling and show business.
